Assess skin firmness and quality on the body in Richmond

If the skin on a body area feels looser or looks less firm than it used to, a skin firmness consultation in Richmond gives you a chance to have that quality assessed. The focus here is the skin itself rather than the shape underneath.

The concern

Understanding this concern

Skin firmness is about how the skin looks and behaves, its tautness, its surface quality and how it sits over the body. This is distinct from contour or volume; you can be happy with a body area's shape yet unhappy with the crepiness, laxity or texture of the skin on top of it.

Skin quality on the body changes for reasons that are mostly ordinary: age, sun exposure over a lifetime, hormonal shifts, and periods of weight change that stretch and then release the skin. Understanding which of these is at play for you is part of what this appointment is for.

What people often notice

  • Skin that looks crepey, fine-lined or less taut than it once did
  • Looseness that followed weight loss, pregnancy or a change in age
  • A body area where the skin surface feels thinner or less resilient
  • Sun-exposed areas such as the upper chest, arms or hands showing their history
In the consultation

A personal, in-person assessment

What Jolene assesses

  • The surface quality, tautness and resilience of the skin on the area of concern
  • Whether the concern is genuinely skin firmness or is really about contour beneath it
  • Sun history, hydration and lifestyle factors that influence body skin quality
  • How the skin responds and whether its quality is stable or still changing

What affects suitability

  • The current condition and health of the skin on that body area
  • Your general health, sun history and anything affecting skin healing
  • Realistic expectations for what skin quality can and cannot do
  • Whether skin quality is the right thing to focus on for your concern
During your visit

What happens during this consultation

The appointment is about 45 minutes with Jolene, a cosmetic nurse, in Richmond. She looks closely at the skin on the area you are concerned about, feels its quality where appropriate, and asks about sun exposure, history and how the skin has changed.

She then explains what she observes about the skin, whether anything may be appropriate to support its quality, and how options and their risks differ. There is no obligation to proceed and a $30 booking deposit applies.

Risks and limitations. Options, risks and results differ between individuals, and skin firmness has real limits, some laxity reflects the skin's structure and history and may be better accepted or supported modestly than promised away. Jolene will be candid about what is realistic for your skin and when a concern is best addressed differently or not at all.

What to bring or share

  • A sense of when you first noticed the skin change and what preceded it
  • Details of your sun history and any skincare you currently use on the body
  • A list of medications, supplements and relevant medical history

Frequently asked questions

Is this about the shape of my body or the skin itself?

The skin itself, its firmness, surface quality and tautness. If your concern turns out to be more about contour underneath, Jolene will point that out and suggest a more suitable appointment.

My skin loosened after weight loss. Can that be assessed?

Yes. Weight change is one of the most common reasons people notice looser skin. Jolene assesses the current quality of the skin and explains what may realistically be appropriate.

Can skin firmness actually be improved?

It depends on the individual and the extent of the change. Some skin quality can be supported and some reflects structure that has real limits. Jolene gives you an honest read on your own skin.

What does it cost and how long does it take?

A $30 booking deposit secures the appointment, which runs about 45 minutes in person in Richmond with Jolene.
